And then, there was a shop!

Very exciting news...

We'll be opening a shop in Newcastle CBD at the end of the month!
Keep Saturday 27th of August free (10am - 2pm) to come and celebrate the opening of Little Papercup:

A shop, studio and installation space dedicated to art, illustration and paper goods from independent artists & designers.

We have some gorgeous paper goods and art prints made by lovely artists and designers from Australia and abroad such as Blueberry Paper, Catherine Campbell, Courtney Oquist, (myself) Jo Dyer, Trevor Dickinson and Pocket Carnival.

Fran & I will also use part of the space as a studio to keep making our wares, and there'll be a workspace for you too! That's right! We're setting up a lovely big table with materials for making your own papery goodness such as greeting cards, wrapping paper or maybe something decorative for our paper installation.

Our shop is located in Market Square (up the escalator, opposite Rivers) in the Hunter St Mall.
The space has been made available through Renew Newcastle.
We're very proud to be joining Renew as we've been a big fan of their other fabulous projects since the beginning.

We'll keep you updated here and on facebook as we revamp the space and start moving in...yay!!!

Little Papercup - The Stall!

Here's a few pics from our latest stall at the Newcastle Farmers Market.

We stock lovely papery / arty bits and bobs from wonderful independent artists, designers and creatives. Yay! Come & say Hi!

We're there EVERY sunday 8am - 1pm. That's right, I get up at 6am each sunday to peddle wares (and buy lovely locally produced groceries). But I wouldn't have it any other way cos the crowd is fab and the coffee is soooo worth getting up for! Plus I have the lovely company of fellow artist and wonderful friend Robyn McPherson :)

To The Beach

In the morning on Easter Sunday (whilst driving Miffy home from the dog beach) I stumbled across something awesome!!!!

It was artist Trevor Dickinson a.k.a Newcastle Productions painting an amazing mural of the Newcastle Baths on Hunter Street.

If you're in Newy and you haven't seen it, you really must! It's on Hunter Street between Crown and Brown sts (where the old Lucky Country Hotel used to be).

Trevor captures the iconic and not so iconic buildings and features of Newcastle City's landscape.
His latest exhibition 100 Letterboxes samples the ordinary and extraordinary letterboxes that can be found in the suburbs of Newcastle.

Trevor has also released The Newcastle Australia Annual 2011 which you can purchase here

AUTUMN STORY - chalkboard animation

Oh...my...god

I'm so in love with this gorgeous stop motion chalk animation.
The song is 'Autumn Story' by Newcastle's own The Firekites (from 'The Bowery' album).
It apparently took six months to make and contains about 2000 individual drawings!

So, so cool.

Paper Swoon

I most definitely have to go and visit Mona Vale's Little Paper Lane.
This is the ultimate shop for paper lovers like me!

You can read about Jayde's gorgeous shop on The Finders Keepers Blog.
I'm all drunk on inspiration!
